Community Foundation of North Louisiana is excited to announce Wanda H. Thomas and Witt Caruthers as the most recent additions to CFNLA’s seven-member Board of Directors. Thomas and Caruthers are succeeding longtime board members Rand Falbaum and Margaret Thompson.

Dr. Wanda H. Thomas, M.D., FAAP is a graduate of Yale University and is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Shreveport, where she works as a hospitalist both in the newborn nursery as well as the pediatric inpatient service. She also works as an outpatient clinic attending in the general pediatric clinic. In the past year, Dr. Thomas began a new roll at the medical school, serving as the Associate Dean of Admissions. Dr. Thomas has been the LSU Health Shreveport AHEC Program Director for seven years, overseeing centers located in both north and central Louisiana, and currently serves as chairperson of the Diversity Committee for the National AHEC Organization. She is very involved in the Shreveport community – a place she has called home her entire life – and holds multiple board positions at a variety of area organizations.

Witt Caruthers is a native of Shreveport. He is a graduate of Washington & Lee University and received a law degree from Yale Law School. After practicing law in Atlanta, Caruthers returned to Shreveport in 1990 to work in his family’s energy company, Caruthers Producing Company. Besides energy, Caruthers has been active in a variety of real estate development projects in the Ark-La-Tex. Since returning to Shreveport, Caruthers has been involved in economic development, civic, and political affairs locally and has served on numerous boards, committees, and task forces. The Community Foundation is thrilled to welcome two experienced community advocates to their Board of Directors!
