Community Foundation of North Louisiana is pleased to announce it has awarded over $4.1 million to nonprofit organizations through its 2026 competitive grant cycle.
CFNLA’s mission to promote philanthropy and improve the quality of life in North Louisiana includes a commitment to proactive and strategic grantmaking. Since inception, CFNLA has granted over $150 million to nonprofit organizations. Grants are awarded in a variety of ways, including competitive grants, donor advised grants, scholarships, and the Give For Good Lagniappe Fund.
The annual CFNLA competitive grant process is rigorous, and not all applicants receive funding. Applicants must provide up-to-date financial information, an organizational budget, a program budget, and proof of liability insurance. Applicants are also required to provide detailed information on the program outcomes they expect to achieve, the outcomes they have achieved in the past, and their plan for sustaining the program in the future. After scoring all applications, the CFNLA Board of Directors makes final grant decisions each April.
To effect positive change in our community, CFNLA researches community issues and seeks grantees conducting proven programs with measurable outcomes. The majority of competitive grants in 2026 were awarded to programs addressing poverty, educational attainment, and health, all areas of community need identified in CFNLA’s data report published each fall, Community Counts. The full list of 2026 competitive grantees is now available at cfnla.org/grants.
