Community Foundation of North Louisiana strives to improve the quality of life for members of our community through proactive and strategic grantmaking. Since its inception, CFNLA has granted over $120 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. Grants are awarded in a variety of ways, including competitive grants, donor advised grants, scholarships, and Give For Good.
This year we are pleased to announce Community Foundation of North Louisiana is awarding over $3 million in grants to nonprofits through this year’s competitive grant cycle.
The annual CFNLA competitive grant process is rigorous and not all applicants receive funding. Applicants must provide up-to-date financial information, an organizational budget, a program budget, and proof of liability insurance. Applicants are also required to provide detailed information on the program outcomes they expect to achieve, the outcomes they have achieved in the past, and their plan for sustaining the program in the future. After scoring all applications, the CFNLA makes final grant decisions each April.
The majority of the competitive grants awarded in 2023 were to programs that aim to address the issues highlighted in Community Counts–poverty, educational attainment, and health outcomes. CFNLA believes to effect positive change in our community, funding decisions must be based on research and in proven programs.
