SUMMARY:CFNLA 2021 Community Counts
DESCRIPTION:Accurate data is essential to help our community set priorities\, track progress\, formulate policy\, and allocate resources. To help drive change in our area\, the Community Foundation has been tracking data and publishing Community Counts since 2008. Data for the Shreveport-Bossier Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is collected and tracked in six categories – Population\, Economics\, Human Capital\, Health\, Social Environment\, and Physical Environment. For the Community Foundation\, this data guides all that we do. \nWe encourage all to use Community Counts to start and accelerate community discussions\, as a roadmap for social capital investment\, or as a call to action for philanthropy and volunteerism. \nDr. Dave Norris\, Chief Research and Innovation Officer at Louisiana Tech University\, will present this year’s data at a special event on October 14 at 4:00 PM.  \nRegister [here]\nPlease read the following COVID-19 guidelines required by LSUS for events at LSUS:\nIn the spirit of doing our part in reducing the spread of COVID 19\, LSUS will initiate the following Visitor Policy on October 1st.  \nEvent’s Visitor Policy: While cases of COVID 19 remain high in our region\, LSUS will institute the following mitigation efforts in regards to vaccination and/or negative COVID test results:  \nProof of Vaccination or a Negative Covid Test\nACCEPTED METHODS OF VACCINE VERIFICATION: \n\nL.A. DESCRIPTION:Join the Women’s Philanthropy Network on October 28th! \nCFNLA’s Women’s Philanthropy Network is hosting an informational membership event on Thursday\, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. [RSVP here] Philanthropically minded women are invited to learn more about the WPN.  Did you know that each year this inspiring group pools its philanthropic dollars to make a great impact in our community? \nFounded in 2005\, the Women’s Philanthropy Network (WPN) is a group of women dedicated to making positive change through philanthropy.  Members pool their annual dues to make a high-impact grant to local organizations with a focus on education.  As a fund at the Community Foundation\, 80% of the dues are granted each year and 20% is placed into the WPN endowment fund to continue to serve future generations.  Each year\, members solicit grant applicants and ultimately vote on which organization will receive a WPN grant. \nSince inception\, the WPN has granted over $1.2 million to educational initiatives in our community.  Past recipients include Volunteers for Youth Justice\, Step Forward\, the Caddo Parish Schools Transformation Zone\, and the LSU Shreveport Foundation. \nThe WPN also hosts educational programming which aims to keep members informed of community programs and needs.  This year is already shaping up to be an exciting year with informative speakers! \n  \nWPN 2021-22 Events and Speaker Series \n  \nThursday\, October 28\, 2021\, at 5:00 p.m.: Getting to Know the WPN featuring 2021-2022 Chair Susannah Poljak. \nThursday\, November 18\, 2021\, at noon: Closing the Digital Divide featuring Keith Hanson\, Chief Technology Officer for the City of Shreveport\, and John Tuggle\, Executive Director of Shreve Memorial Library. \nThursday\, January 20\, 2022\, at noon: On the Road to Recovery: Learning Losses Post Covid\, featuring Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree of Caddo Schools and Superintendent Mitch Downey of Bossier Schools. \nThursday\, March 10\, 2022 (time TBD): The State of Early Education in North Louisiana. \n  \n  \n
