DESCRIPTION:Join the Women’s Philanthropy Network on October 28th! \nCFNLA’s Women’s Philanthropy Network is hosting an informational membership event on Thursday\, October 28 at 5:00 p.m. [RSVP here] Philanthropically minded women are invited to learn more about the WPN.  Did you know that each year this inspiring group pools its philanthropic dollars to make a great impact in our community? \nFounded in 2005\, the Women’s Philanthropy Network (WPN) is a group of women dedicated to making positive change through philanthropy.  Members pool their annual dues to make a high-impact grant to local organizations with a focus on education.  As a fund at the Community Foundation\, 80% of the dues are granted each year and 20% is placed into the WPN endowment fund to continue to serve future generations.  Each year\, members solicit grant applicants and ultimately vote on which organization will receive a WPN grant. \nSince inception\, the WPN has granted over $1.2 million to educational initiatives in our community.  Past recipients include Volunteers for Youth Justice\, Step Forward\, the Caddo Parish Schools Transformation Zone\, and the LSU Shreveport Foundation. \nThe WPN also hosts educational programming which aims to keep members informed of community programs and needs.  This year is already shaping up to be an exciting year with informative speakers! \n  \nWPN 2021-22 Events and Speaker Series \n  \nThursday\, October 28\, 2021\, at 5:00 p.m.: Getting to Know the WPN featuring 2021-2022 Chair Susannah Poljak. \nThursday\, November 18\, 2021\, at noon: Closing the Digital Divide featuring Keith Hanson\, Chief Technology Officer for the City of Shreveport\, and John Tuggle\, Executive Director of Shreve Memorial Library. \nThursday\, January 20\, 2022\, at noon: On the Road to Recovery: Learning Losses Post Covid\, featuring Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree of Caddo Schools and Superintendent Mitch Downey of Bossier Schools. \nThursday\, March 10\, 2022 (time TBD): The State of Early Education in North Louisiana. \n  \n  \n
