SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday with CFNLA & Kendra Scott
DESCRIPTION:This Giving Tuesday\, support early childhood education in Caddo Parish by shopping online or in-store with Kendra Scott. The CFNLA Early Childhood Education Fund provides opportunities for more children to attend quality early childhood centers. On Tuesday\, December 1st\, 20% of sales will be donated to the Fund. \nHow to Shop\nShop in-store or online all day on Tuesday\, December 1st. Visit the Kendra Scott popup in Shreveport (Shoppes at Bellemead\, 6535 Youree Drive) and mention the fundraiser during checkout. Shop online at kendrascott.com and enter code GIVEBACK-0IP3 at checkout. 20% of your purchase will be donated to CFNLA’s Early Childhood Education Fund. \n \nWhy Early Childhood Education?\nDid you know 90% of brain development occurs from age 0 to age 5? According to the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University\, a child’s experiences during the earliest years of life have a lasting impact on the architecture of the developing brain. \nThe Louisiana Childcare Assistance Program\, or CCAP\, provides financial assistance to low-income families (while parents are working or attending school) for high quality childcare. In the fall of 2019 in Caddo Parish there were 842 children enrolled with 188 on the waiting list. \nAccording to the most recent Louisiana Department of Education data\, 59% of children in both Caddo and Bossier Parishes were not kindergarten ready. The Louisiana Legislature established the Early Childhood Education Fund to match non-state\, non-federal (local\, private) funds spent on quality early care and for centers participating in the quality rating system or those eligible to receive CCAP-funded students. The state fund will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for every local dollar raised. \nNobel Prize winning University of Chicago Economics Professor James Heckman’s research shows that high-quality\, birth-to-five early childhood education provides a return on investment or ROI of 13%. \nAbout CFNLA’s Early Childhood Education Fund\nBecause all children deserve equal access to quality early education and care\, CFNLA challenges Caddo Parish citizens and businesses to raise $900\,000 to fund spaces for Caddo children on the CCAP waitlist. If this goal is met\, CFNLA will contribute $100\,000 to total $1 million!  Please consider a donation to CFNLA’s Early Childhood Fund so we can leverage state matching dollars so many more children ages 0 to 5 have access to quality early education. \nClick here to make a donation to the Early Childhood Education Fund.
