The Women’s Philanthropy Network, a fund of the Community Foundation, just wrapped up another exciting year. Each year members pool their dues to make a high-impact gift to a local organization with a focus on education. The members vote on the grant recipient at the WPN annual meeting. This year, WPN members voted to fund two programs: $32,190 was granted to Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities’ PRIME TIME Preschool Program and another $32,250 was allocated to the Step Forward Neighborhood Networks project.
Members are also invited to educational programs throughout the year that aim to keep them informed about issues faced by children in our community. More than sixty members recently attended a lunch lecture by Clay Walker, Director of Juvenile Services at Caddo Parish Juvenile Court, about the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). The WPN was also honored to host speakers State Superintendent John White, Caddo Parish Superintendent Dr. Lamar Goree, and Caddo Parish Schools Supervisor of Art Henry Price.
The new membership year for the Women’s Philanthropy Network begins June 1st. To learn more about the WPN or to join please visit cfnla.org/wpn.
